PicoMicroYacht Safety Devices

I have made a short video of the safety devices used on PicoMicroYacht, including navigation aids. This excludes the radio, automatic identification system and depth finder, mentioned in the recent post 'PicoMicroYacht's Shortest Voyage.'

  1. Hi I am most interested in your 're-purposing' of a Pico. I live on the Sussex coast near Chichester and sail a gaffer from the harbour. However as we all know sailing is not instant and as I live 3 mins from the sea and 35 mins from the boat. I often look longingly at the sea when I have a spare two hours or so and wish to be on the water spontaneously. It is always too cold to swim in and I am a slow (aka bad technique) swimmer so won't be doing that. Had a knee op and will avoid sliding seat rowing so will go for fixed and would like some advice re oar seat positioning etc on a Pico if you can advise pls?. Do I need to make a frame to widen the Rowlock position and height ? Can easily do that as have built a number of boats. There are always semi abandoned Pico's around so will be able to find one I'm sure. I have always liked rowing and having grown up sailing in an era of moorings, we were always rowing everywhere as we had a reluctant Seagull outboard that would eventually start 10 feet from the boat with my father having fiddled with it whilst my sister and I rowed for 30 mins (which .
we loved to do). Many thanks, Larry. (Binge reading all your blogs ..super)
