Rowing through Cambridge

I didn't know you could row through Cambridge. The river there seems to be the domain of punts, not rowing boats. But I found out that not only could it be done, but no licence is required. Nevertheless, I did it early in the morning so as not to tangle with the punts.

This film shows PicoMicroYacht as it voyaged through the university area to the rowing clubs, where I finished the voyage.

PicoMicroYacht to Visit the North Sea

Starting this month from Cambridge, PicoMicroYacht is to voyage down the River Cam, via the Great Ouse into the Wash and then on into the North Sea and around the coast to Great Yarmouth.

This is part of a fund raising expedition for CASPA, a local South London Charity that provides to children and young people with autism and their familes.

PicoMicroYacht will launch at Granchester, where there is the little Granta River, the navigable source of Cam, about two miles upstream from Cambridge.

It will then voyage along the Cam, through the 'backs' of Cambridge to Ely, and onwards down the Great Ouse to King's Lynn.

After going through The Wash it will make use of the various ports along the North Norfolk coast, including Brancaster, Wells-Next-the-Sea and Blakeney. Beyond this it will need to beach  for breaks along the coast until reaching Great Yarmouth.

In calm weather PicoMicroYacht is well suited for this adventure.
